I got my start in computer coding/hardware when my wife bought me my Atari 400 in 1980. Before long I had it tricked out with the (Gasp!!! :open_mouth:) 48K upgrade and replaced the membrane keyboard with the B400 full stroke keyboard. By the time I was taking part time IT classes at our local community college (1988) my professor offered me a job with his company when he found I was doing things with my Atari 800XL system that his customers couldn’t do on their IBMs.

That said, this old dog has decided to try to learn some new tricks and move as much as possible away from the Microsoft universe.

I wish now that he hadn’t made me Service Manager because this was the time period when Novell was taking off in office networking. I spent any network related calls servicing the Wyse network on a card to dumb terminal customers (which were the primary net customers 'til I left the company in '91.

I admit, I find Linux a bit daunting. Guess I shouldn’t because I do see similarities between that and DOS. Windows 1.0 came out while I was with the company but vitually 100% of what I did was command line.

I’m a 71 year old newbie so I’ll probably be asking questions from time to time so I don’t tear what little hair I have left out!
