Problem - I can boot only using a usb card reader (the same sd card will not boot in the card slot)

I have a new aml-s905d3-cc-v1.1 board, and I have updated the firmware as instructed (used dd to write aml-s905d3-cc-spiflash.img to a sd card, booted with the sd card and saw black/white menu; selected Firmware Update (saw success message)

I also selected the EtherealOS option and installed ubuntu and later successfully did a full dist-upgrade to bring it up to noble. My main OS for this board right now is an Armbian “Arm64 UEFI” image and it works fine if I boot the board with this OS on an sd card in a USB card reader – but the same sd card will not boot from the SD card slot.

Works fine booted from USB card reader

Same SD card fails to boot in SD Card slot…

I have also tried other SD cards such as the Samsung brand, etc. and though they work in my Alta and in my Sweet Potato - they will not work in this Solitude.

Advice?

Solitude is more picky about MicroSD card than Alta and Sweet Potato. Stick to legit Tier 1 and it should work.
