Boot Freezes New Ubuntu Image on ROC-RK3328-CC

I am getting this error via serial debug. New Ubuntu image (re-imaged a few times to check):

U-Boot TPL 2022.10+ (Dec 13 2022 - 00:53:03)
row errorDDR4, 800MHz
BW=16 Col=10 Bk=4 BG=2 CS0 Row=17 CS=1 Die BW=16 Size=2048MB

Is there anything I should try (flashing, etc?) This board did before have an eMMC on it, but now back on SD card.

I used the tool to flash the image and got this;

U-Boot TPL 2023.04+ (May 25 2023 - 01:08:08)
PMIC: RK8050 (on=0x40, off=0x00)
row errorDDR4, 933MHz
BW=16 Col=10 Bk=4 BG=2 CS0 Row=17 CS=1 Die BW=16 Size=2048MB

I can’t find anything on what a “row error” is, but the device doesn’t boot. Is there anything else I can look at or is the device broken?

There’s nothing after this message? This just indicated that the DDR turning worked. ATF should start after this and then u-boot.

Nothing. No more messages and never any output to HDMI.

The DDR initialization tries to write a pattern to the different rows. It means that it could not get the pattern back any of the rows after cycling through them.

Got it. I presume that means there could be something wrong with the SDRAM on it, correct?

It could be the PCB, SoC, or DRAM. You don’t know for sure until you test each one. Solder breaking from board flex, some bugs craw in and short an IO, power surge, ESD, you name it and it can happen. Where did you buy it from?

Amazon (LoveRPi as the seller). But last December.
